Great food with service to match. A gem in this tourist area

Great friendly service! Our server answered any questions we had over the menu. She gave us adequate time to choose and brought out drinks right after we ordered. Food was very good and reasonably priced for the portions. Will need to try other items next time since there's so much to choose from. I had a small combo of flautas and taquitos while my fiance had large combo meal of enchilada and chimichanga.

Quest and Salsa was one the best I’ve ever had. Server great. Atmosphere and food authentic. When I pulled up.. not high expectations. When I walked in... pleasantly delighted. A must try

Great food and service. I had the Chicken Fajita Burrito and it was as long as my forearm and twice as wide. It was so delicious and you definitely get your money's worth. My husband had the street tacos and said these were the best corn tortillas he's ever had.

We had a party of 12 and everyone’s order came out perfect! The food and service were both amazing!!

Every time I’m here the people are so kind, the food is great and I’m obsessed with their chips and salsa. Tried to get a seat tonight and they were full! I’m glad to see it 😊

Good quality food but the portions were super small, and it was VERY expensive for what you got. Avacado was missing from the taco salad, probably the most expensive part of what we ordered.Probably won't come here again, consider other options.

Food excellent service was great very helpful workers for info about area as well.Tamales, Tacos, Enchilades were great. Small place due to virus precautions may have to wait outside, parking limited.

Great chips and salsa plus bean dip too! Big portions at a good value. Service was attentive and fast. Will go back.

This place was soooo good. I make little reviews but we all said we should come back tomorrow and thought I should help others on where to eat. We love Mexican food. We tried another place here in Rapid City and this place was far superior. Their service was great and the flavor of the chicken was amazing. My 9 year old daughter literally cleared her plate. I highly recommend!!

We were passing through Rapid City on a road trip and decided to give El Sombrero a chance. 6 of us in our party, and every single plate was fantastic. My husband ordered the mole, which he loved. I had the tamale, which was also excellent. Every item of food was full of flavor, which was wonderful since sometimes Mexican restaurants can be bland. We would definitely recommend El Sombrero to anyone!

Fantastic people and the food was spectacular! I'm a really picky whacky eater and they made my lunch happen with delight. Highly recommend, only real place to visit in South Dakota

Awesome! I had the Chicken Chipotle and it was great. My wife had the Burrito Loco and enjoyed it too. Plus it was loco huge! The queso was really good as well. The salsa was amazing. I've ate at Mexican restaurants all over the country and this was the best salsa I've ever had.

Only place we found that makes menudo. So yummy!

I ordered the carnitas. Was the most traditional I've ever had in the states. Very good. The staff is also very friendly, everything was clean, and portions were huge, especially for the price. If you want real Mexican food in rapid City this is where to go. Bring cash.

Love it! Been here a few times and the food is exceptional. I'm originally from California and this is the Mexican joint I would recomend. They have beer and margaritas and homemade guacamole. Staff is helpful and friendly, always willing to help you understand the menu if you have questions. Thank goodness for El Sombrero😁👍

Lovey place!! Great decor, all the servers were lovely! Food was so so so amazing!! Drinks we made perfectly and the kids loved it there!! We def plan to return!! I suggest This as a must stop

The food was excellent. The salsa us great but the chips could be better. And the tap water with ice was bad, but I will blame city water for that. I'll still give 5 stars because the rest of the meal was that good

Just recently moved into the area, and I already found my favorite place to eat!! Fast and friendly service. So so so good. Will recommend to everyone. They are definitely doing something right here.

Good food. Prices seemed high for Mexican food. Maybe that was typical for south Dakota. All tables were full.

Food is soooo good. I still try other places all over town, but every time I come back to eat here, it’s always the best! Hands down.... best in town

What an experience. Abel and Jorge have been amazing hosts. Abel sat us and was crazy kind. Jorge was our waiter. Man was the food good. This place is legit. And in South Dakota too (a state that seems to hate good food). We had the Taquitos, Pork Carintas, the Chicken Tamles, and the Horchata. Our family of five and my pregnant wife were fairly needy but Jorge did a great job of taking care or us. If you are in the area hit this place up. I doubt you will be disappointed.

New to the area and was told to try this place. AMAZING!!! Food was at the table promptly and service was awesome. The taste of the food was a bit....... AMAZING AS WELL!!! My family and I will surely be back!

Lengua street tacos were amazing, and the refried beans had a wonderful taste to them. Will be recommending to anyone traveling through/to Rapid City in the future.

Good Food, place is clean, service is good. Be aware though that if you pay with a credit card you will be charged a 4% non-cash fee (which is not disclosed up front). That is a deal breaker for me because nearly all businesses have the card transaction fee built in to their prices.

Really nice folks.Way too expensive lunch prices for what's actually mediocre food.Nearly zero atmosphere.Most negative though were the several hygiene issues, in our opinion: two folks and the cook doing everything...from seating to money & register to rolling napkins with the silverware. A precious little boy came and went in and out from the kitchen through the dining area, even visiting us while we were eating to play with his car on our table. He really was SO ADORABLE, but he was sniffling and runny nose and coughing the whole time, and it took several minutes for either busy parent to realize where he was.Again, they were very nice, and the food was decent but absolutely nothing special, and definitely not at the price of $8.99 for LUNCH!
